No XP when you play in custom games. Loot boxes are tied to XP. Game just came out and peeps want #Hats yo. Once that tapers a bit, I'm sure it will be easy to orchestrate such things.
We managed to hook that up during the beta with limited amounts of people so it shouldn't be hard to do now that we have more people able to play.

I was all about to buy it, then I hear about loot drops and crate purchasing, and now I'm all "eeeeeeeeeehhhhhh"....
Everything in the crates/loot are cosmetic. You earn one per level or if you want some specific cosmetics earlier you can buy a bunch.
It's not like TF2 where the drops could effect gameplay.
Yeah, we're talking skins, voices, poses, and sprays. No weapons, no upgrades, no abilities, nothing useful.

I managed to get enough currency to buy the Orchid skin though. I think that and Celestial are my favorite.
