Well Hello all, my name is Sean and I live in Denver Colorado. I'm kinda new to folding as I had a really old machine folding a few years back. I am 23 years young and am currently a student at Westwood College, I am seeking my BA in ISS (Information System Securities) I also run a part time computer repair shop out of my home. For fun I like to go fishing, build models, and play around on my computers (I have 8 of them running at the moment, which will get put online within the next couple of days to start folding) I stumbled upon this team and forum group when looking for SiS drivers for my sisters computer, so I figured I could do something usefull and make my machines fold. So here I am!!!;D :smokin:

I can't remember if I contributed to this thread.

I'm Robert. I go by Rob. I'm 19, and I work at Best Buy.. I work there because I can't afford to go to school. I play World of Warcraft. I like fruit loops, sunsets, long walks on the beach.. :range: No no, wait.. I like AMD, video games, anything remotely nerdy (Except for LARP, those dorks). I hate pocket lint, the people I service at my job, grits, zucchini, the number 90.. And I think the sun has legs; I haven't been out in a while to check.

    I write.

    Cheers.

Welcome to Team 93, Sean. :)

I'm another fisherman, though I haven't been able to do as much as I'd like lately. As for F@H, having eight computers going should move you up in the standings pretty quickly.:fold:

Well I don't have much to say, but I got a new comp, and was wondering why it said I have dual procs so i looked and came upon the forum and then got my answer the lovely HT Intel has fooled me. So I looked into what the folding biz was about and said to self, " Self what the heck, your at college and you leave your computer on 24/7 so why not, besides I don't pay the bill anyway." So thats when I decided to DL the proggy and give it a whirl. Sounds like a good cause, Just wondering is there any way to be MORE active, I like the feeling of being in a community that does good things.

P.S I'm going to get some buddies to run the proggy on there comps "I'll see who I can get.

P.S.S Anyone want to explain how to setup diskless nodes, cause I got a friend that owns an ISP and he has a gaming Center on the other side of his office,
I'll see if I can run some comps there on his 100Mbps connect.

Drewb, if you enable hyperthreading, you can run TWO instances of Folding@Home running. A P4 HT with two instances of Folding is a potent point producer. I've got two such setups.

    Drew,

There are a several ways to make HT enabled machines efficiently process two F@H clients simultaneously.

    1. Run a graphical client and console client (two clients) on the same machine. But don't run two graphical (GUI) clients simultaneously.
    2. Run two console clients simultaneously, but name each .exe file differently, such as FAHxyz - Console I.exe in one client folder and FAHxyz - Console II.exe in another. When set these up, during the installation a DOS Window will appear, in which you put different entries, such as your Folding user name, and team number (we are 93). In this window it will also prompt you to give a machine number, choices 1 through 8. Ensure that each client is given a different number! (BTW, the reason I change the console.exe names is so that it's easier to track folding progress in pop-up text files and through monitoring programs such as Electron Microscope.)
    3. Installing folding in mulitple instances as a service. Involves some minor coding. Drasnor has written thorough piece, here .

There are a bunch of threads on the topic of dual instances of Folding on single computers. I suggest an advanced search for "instances" under the "Folding @ Home" forum.

    Hi.

The forum seems to be quite US-based. So there's a certain exotic moment in my writings I guess :D

My real name is Andres and I'm from Estonia. (no, it's not the same as Russia)
I'm 26, working full time as a school psychologist. In the meantime I try to complete my master's degree studies in the same field.
I'm new to the forum as a registered user, but not as a guest. Being by no means a computer specialist, I have excessively (ab)used your guides for my own (and not only my own) computer problems. That is the second important reason I joined folding@home. The main reason is my natural sympathy (call it professional idiocy if you want) for those with disabilities. If I can be of any help, good.
And oh, thanks to short media team for their hard work!

Thank you so much for joining Team 93. We are very dedicated to the Folding project. Check out our "SMx" project. These are computers that the team owns, hosted by individual team members. All the parts for these computers were donated directly by members or were purchased through member donations. Some of these machines are named in honor of team members' deceased family members, some of whom succumbed to diseases Folding@Home's research may someday help solve.

Our site is predominately North American by membership, but we are indeed international. We welcome the variety of thought, personality, and perspective that comes with a broad base of membership. Please be active here! By the way, your English is excellent!

    Thanks for the welcome.
My english skills are a bit overrated, I guess. It's still more a 'translation' than natural language.
I try to be active. I'm a dumbuser, so beware of millions of stupid questions about the computer on my desk from now on :)
And yeah, you may ask me millions of stupid questions about 'the computer in your head' in return if you wish :D

By the way, this not-so-stupid-text-console (or whatever) of F@H ended installing itself kind of weirdly: just stopped doing anything and stood there, not showing anything like 'installation complete' or whatever they usually say. After reboot, the process list shows 2 FAH processes running, though. So I may expect it's OK?

Occupation: Currently a golf professional, giving lessons and working as an assistant pro. I have been a teacher, a golf pro, a flow systems technician, a construction worker, an account executive for a digital pen company and i am sure I will be a bunch of other stuff.

Bit About Me: I love living in Shanghai. Chinese women are beautiful and kind.
I have my own religion but I have not worked out all the details yet. I only know it is as far away from organized religions can be and probably in the same zip code as buddhism.
I really don't know that much about computers, but i am learning.
I first started serious PC gaming with Return to Castle Wolfenstein. I was on several competition teams and help to start a clan (that is still actually together and running one of the few active servers left out there. a destruction server that still gets good traffic)
I left RTCW when my life was consumed by World of Warcraft. I started palying in November of 04 and didn't have to get gas in my vehicle until February 05 (and i had a gas guzzler)...i played a lot...i had to leave the game and attempt to regain my life. i have been marginally successfull.

oh..and i started folding about 45 minutes ago...these guys helped me fix a computer problem. they were kind and incredibly patient. they won me over and i am happy to contribute. right now i am using a laptop that i use at home and work, so it is not online 24/7, but i will contribute anyway i can.

Thanks and it is good to be here,

i toyed around with other stuff, but could never find anything i liked better (until WoW). BF1942, just wasn't as fast and too complicated for a noob like me...........UT2004/5 are too lazerish for a noob like me (i enjoy them, but never got serious).......

i do think CSS looks good, but i am only interested in it because the footage i saw in PurePwnage.com

i am out of commission though, game wise, until i get a new rig here in china. this laptop won't really run anything worth playing...

    Hi!:type:
I just started folding. I love science and computers and F@H combines the 2 in a great way.
I am a writer by trade- science fiction, horror, short fiction, poetry etc...
Nothing published yet although I am working on a novel that has garnered interest. My main influences are H.P. Lovecraft, Isaac Asimov, Gene Roddenberry, Stephen King, Aleister Crowley and Edgar Allan Poe.
I am also a student studying computers- mainly interested in web development, networking, servers, programming and creating a security suite that actually works!
I have been interested in computers since the TI/99 but have been out of the computer world for about 7 years +. Unbelievable !! = the horsepower underthe hood of a personal computer these days! Another reason that the F@H is a good Idea and time has come. I have 2 much more powerful computers (P4 3.0GHz 2GB ram and 2.4GHZ 256 MB ram) that I will not put online - I am in shock over th capabilities of these 2 rigs(and I know there are higher specs out there and growing all the time!). Is there a way to use these computers to fold without having them directly connected to the internet? I also have 2 Quad Pro 200MHZ PP servers that at least one could bet set up to fold- I currently do not want these online either - not until I have learned more about security programming.
I love arcade games and also used to play alot of AD@D but spent much time travelling after high school- Hawai and hitchiked across Canada 4 times!
I also love Star Trek and european beer!:cheers:

I joined this site a little over a year ago as a coked up alcoholic a55ho1e.

I am an Army veteran who served as a team leader in a battalion scout/recon team in the 82nd. I joined when I was 17, we went to and partied in Egypt, Isreal and Haiti. I got a little crazy in Egypt and was the "soul contributer to an international incident" the army came to a mutual decision with myself to let me leave with an honorable discharge but earlier than I had expected.

I got out and went everywhere. I had all the cars, boats, motorcycles and women I could handle because I had the drugs. I was dealing pretty heavy and thought I was tough. I was all about image. I was 5' 9" 215lbs. and benching 405lbs. I lived in San Diego, Naples FL, Phoenix AZ etc. etc. I went to schools all over too but for my own business courses. SDSU, ASU, UCF I even managed to graduate Motorcycle Mechanics Institute in Phoenix AZ as a Honda/Kawasaki tech.

Anyways my image did'nt last so long and I ended up as nothing but a homeless washed up addict and fiend. Less than a year ago after getting out of jail I went on a mind clearing binge that blew out my mind landing me in a mental institution. I've done well since then with the help of some really great people in the VA hospital. I'm back in school to actually do something, A+ certification, and I'll have a federal job soon working for the IT dept at the Boston VA. A lot of things have changed since I started here with team SM.. I'd like to see it continue. I plan to be back folding ASAP.

Hi, I'm Lewis and I've been folding for about...er...three days now. Which is pitiful, really, since I've been studying neuroscience for the past three years, so polypeptide folding is a subject close to my heart.

I come from Scotland, the greatest nation on Earth, and I live in the beautiful (cough) city of Glasgow - home of the deep-fried mars bar. My interests include painting (I used to study at the Glasgow School of Art, until they kicked me out), writing electronic music and, lately, computing.

I love my country; my fellow man; Tony Jaa; the music of Jimi Hendrix, Jason Amms and Richard D. James (among many others); the paintings of Johannes Vermeer, John Sargent and Mark Rothko (among many others); i love the taste of freshly ground arabica; the grandeur of our universe; the complex interactions of basic units from which emerge the mysteries of life; and of course, I love Barry Newman.

And yes - my upper thorax adheres to the conventional 2-nipple schematic.
