Wasn't something said about the Natar spawn points being random this round anyway?

    That would make things interesting....

Well, if the cluster thing is not going to work Im going to start as soon as the server starts. This waiting and letting the hardcore players get a jump on everyone only to give them the ability to farm as soon as my 3-day is done is in my opinion kinda pointless. That is giving them a head start which will only make things an uphill battle from there. If I can start at the same time as them then I will at least be equal with them in the beginning and have more of a fighting chance. Plus I will move asap if Im next to someone who will eventually dominate me.... thats my plan, but I will wait for the test Lambo is doing before that decision is made...

I think Lambo is still sleeping, but I just logged into my 2 new accounts on comx and I have been located at:

    -70 / -1

    &

    -26 / -61

Which is a LOT closer than I got when I joined either of the two already running servers earlier on (Although still 74 squares apart).

Be interesting to see where Lambo ended up too. Although, regardless of the position of yer first village, I can see some kind stronghold/out(ish)post developing anyway... so maybe it wont make too much difference anyway.

ok if the cluster thing isnt possible i say everyone planning to restart makes 3 accounts we choose the account that is closest to others and delete the new accounts. if this dosent go too well we still have an opportunity to build an outpost so we can be together.

also this round im planning to settle on and around a 15c with 3x50% oases. i have worked out that with a lot of resources i can produce 180k wheat per hour!

We need to decide if we are going to pre-register soon.

tom, your idea is amazing. it's also the ideal situation for everyone...
    so good luck lol.

and i'm not pre-registering, i'm registering about a day or two into the server, so i'm not too close to the hardcore players...
and my name is changing, cba with the muffin stuff anymore :p

When is the exact date the server is starting and what is the URL for that? I may pre-register havent decided yet. Doesnt look like the cluster is going to work anyway.

if you pre-register then do so the day before the restart, if you're one of the first then you'll have to be very good, as you'll be surrounded by the elite.
the exact date is unknown. and the URL is the same, http://speed.travian.co.uk/

Well if these tests that Lambo and SV are doing are completed , then we will no if we can cluster or if random....if random, then it makes no difference when you start cuz you will have the same chance of being by an "elite" or "hardcore" player either way.

I dont think it matters if one starts right away or not. If you wait then thats cool, but you are just giving those same players a head start to make raiders so by the time your safe time expires you will be raided by the same people you were trying to avoid anyway.

I'd rather start at the same time putting us all on an equal level at the beginning, that way I have same amount of time to build defenses as they do raiders giving me a fighting chance in the beginning and possibly making a point that I will be ready for them.

But everyone has their own strategy

I am also starting as soon as the server starts. Especially if random start locations prove to be the case.

I'll wait a day or two I guess.

I love Roman for being able to queue up three builds at once but I'm torn, I may go Gaul just to change it up. Having a powerful defense is very important to me, but so will be offense and Roman has that too but Gaul lacks in this area. I was forced to go defensive last round, like most of us, and didn't start building my offense less until two weeks before the server ended. This time around I won't need to be so defensive.....argh, decisions, decisions!

I'd put Gauls equal with Romans offensively!

In terms of producing an offense, Swordsmen are completely under-rated!
    Imps: 70 attack / 600 resource = 0.117
    Axe: 60 attack / 490 resource = 0.122
    Sword: 65 attack / 535 resource = 0.121
So they're relatively cheaper than Imps only negligably more expensive than Axe (which you'll easily save back in wheat because of their lower consumption/attack).

And TT have exactly the same attacking creditials as half an EC, (45/consumption & 0.083/res), but I think troop numbers count, so 200 tt will inflict more damaged than 100 EC! They don't contribute as much to defense as EC, but they're FAST- 38 fields/hour, basically doubling the area you can effectively raid in and tactically you can hit straight after Scouting, leaving little time for reinforcements. Plus, they're far cheaper to upgrade in Blacksmith than EC giving the same benefit!

Their main weakness is they are slow to produce, but Stable upgrades are cheap and how often did you have your stable queued up for days with Romans!?! I did for the last week or two, but I never made it to Lvl 20 troops because of it!

So basically my point is..... I can't decide either :D !

Was thinking that maybe when we are all registered and have our first villa, regardless of what day one starts, we do a type of roll call with coords and names. That way we can all get an idea where we are all situated in the beginning.

    Just a thought!!!

I say if we do, we post name, coords, and race....then we can decide where we want to go from there....any thoughts?

Probably the best way to go, but there will always be that large scale map to tell us where we all are
  • edited May 2008
even if we're not together at the start that is only a set back. we need to settle next to each other. im going to find a 15c with wheat oases and settle around that. thats my plan. whats yours?

Hey all... As middge mentioned i am having internet problems (i'm posting from my phone!) so if i'm missing anything i apologize. The seemingly random start locations do suck. I noticed that there will be more teutons this time around so i am willing to go roman this time around if it's really needed but i'd much rather stick with the teutons. Also i thought i'd let it be known that my plans for expanding will be to find a 9c with a wheat oasis or two to make my capital, with a couple feeder villages. Sorry for this block of text but i can't figure out how to break it up on my phone! :(
