Just got finished listening to Scuff's Blues and Justin's tuneage. Justin's 'Long HALL Way' has a lot in common with one of the riffs I had in mind already. I also really like 'Swing Metal Riff'.
Been jamming with my son all week, me sharpening up and he learning. He's soaking things up like a sponge, learning new songs way faster than I ever did. Plus, big bonus, he already recognizes TONE - "Dad, how come the amp sounds better cranked up?" which led to a discussion on tubes, dynamics, and other things. :YESS:
Gotta get back to reading the manual on the recording console and hopefully lay down a few things this weekend.
I couldn't get anything done this week, those of you who saw my posts from another thread will understand why but today I go back to the depot and I don't plan on coming home early, fingers crossed.
Alright, I managed to record some drums to Justin's "Swing Metal Riff" but only after about a half dozen beers (so it's not perfect). It's basically first take but the building process is beginning. I'll have the track mixed and uploaded within the day.
Ok I now have my bare drumtrack and the drum/guitar mixdown for Justin's "Swing Metal Riff" uploaded to the server in my directory. Please refer to the readme.txt in my folder. I plan on redoing things on my end again but that will have to wait a few more days.

it's one of those things that makes chills go up your spine because you realize that ideas and thoughts come together into an actual tangible thing and you get really really excited at the possibilities.
It's awesome, terry.. It just drives me NUTS that I don't have my recorder yet...
Glad you like it Brian and yes, the skies our limit.
Can't wait to hear some bottom end to that tune, hope you get that recorder very soon.
I'm getting very excited now after doing that one, so much so that I may schedule a midnight session at the depot tomorrow or Tuesday evening. Not sure what I'll try next, I know that I'm going to redo the swing riff track for sure, after listening to the song a little more, I see where I can greatly improve my end.
Excelent Post Terry!!! I will clean a few things up on my end and try to use your drum track as a metronome as I recorded it without one, shame on me. I think I will try to lengthen it up a litle bit too, didn't realize how short it was until I was listening to the drums and wanted to hear more of them but the change came too soon. I'll repost that track here soon and see if I can't clean it up a little bit as well. Definately diggin it Bonz! Keep Jammin'!!!
I doubt you will have much luck with my drum track though since it has it's own time errors. I can however try and set you up with a click track or something, I'll see what I can do.
You did great recording that as it was, no shame in that. It allowed us to get the ball rolling here.
Click track would be great, I think I will string that first passage out about another three measures or so just to get the right feel with the drum timings, you get rockin right as it makes that switch and it feels like you should get a few more bars to jam on. Sound alright to you?
It's not anything special but you wouldn't have to go between two pieces of software to record and mix your tracks because you can do it all in one with cooledit. I like the interface, it's fairly easy to figure out and has a great bunch of presets and effects. It's my personal favorite and I do own cakewalk and acid as well.
Do we need anything from me at this point? It's spring break, so now is the perfect time if I want to spend some time in the sound booth at the university...

Do you have access to the FTP?
All you gotta do is go in, download the stuff that's in there, and get creative
