PCMark Vantage
PCMark Vantage is a Vista-only benchmark suite from Futuremark. It is multi-core aware and provides a variety of different tests that simulate real-world activities. I’ll be using the ‘Memories’ digital photo manipulation test as well as the ‘TV and Movies’ test. Both are very CPU intensive and can give even the latest processors a good run for their money.
The default benchmark and resolution settings were used for both tests.
The Phenom II processors do quite well in the PCMark Vantage tests, but can’t quite perform at par with an equally clocked Core 2 Quad Q6600. The Q6600 at its default frequency looses out to the Phenom II by a small margin. Taking a look at the equally clocked Phenom II and 65nm Phenom reveals a slight lead for the Phenom II with a stronger showing in the photo manipulation test.
