Crysis
Crysis is still one of the most GPU heavy games on the market today and is considered by many to be the standard that new hardware is measured against. Crysis has out of the box DX9 and DX10 support for Windows Vista, but we’ll be sticking with DX9 for our testing today.
We used the “Crysis Benchmark Tool” to evaulate Crysis. The “benchmark_gpu” timedemo was used. It loops around an island with lots of vegetation and water effects. We kept all settings at ‘high’ but tested with and without AA enabled.
In Crysis, the cards are very close with only a few frames per second separating them. Although framerates seem a bit low in the benchmark we ran, Crysis is quite playable at 1680×1050 on both the 9800GTX+ and the HD4850.
