3DMark 2006
Futuremark’s 3DMark 2006 is arguably the most popular 3D benchmark of all time. We benchmarked using the default settings, as that is the most widely recognized configuration.
There is no question that 3DMark 2006 favors the 9800GTX+ over the HD4850 by roughly 1500 points. There is no PhysX support in 3DMark’06 to skew the benchmark, so this is a fairly accurate picture.
When looking at the individual tests, we see that the HD4850 is not far behind the 9800GTX+ in shader model 2.0 tests, but lags behind by a significant margin in the shader model 3.0 tests.
