I find nearly all modern, American (not across the board, but most usually) comedy to be atrociously bad.
*I'm not addressing The Hangover, which I haven't seen, just nearly every comedy movie that's come out in the last...well, long time.
I'm not trying to be an elitist either. It just feels like nearly every comedy movie I watch expects you to laugh simply because they made a joke, not because the joke is necessarily good.
Superbad and Zack and Miri Make a Porno are definitely the most hilarious comedies in recent memory. Whatever it was about The Hangover, it was not for me.
Oh man... Zack and Miri was epic. I was worried about Kevin Smith venturing outside the Askewniverse again after the steaming pile of crap that was Jersey Girl... but he showed that my worry was unnecessary.

Zack and Miri definetly was a better comedy. I think The Hangover had some funny moments but for the most part I didn't realize how much of a let down it was until the credits when they rolled the pictures of what they did all night, which was the funniest part of the film. The film had too much hype around it i think.
I liked the Hangover a lot, but Zack and Miri was better. Also, as far as Perfume goes, I wouldn't recommend watching it on a plane full of people*. Once you see it, you'll know what I mean.
Just got back from watching The Orphan. It was aight, typical horror movie. I was worried it would be a slasher film but only two people and a bird died. The director, Jaume Collet-Serra, added a lot of little details that most people probably wouldn't notice or think about.
EX: The backgrounds of the parents phones match Esther's paint style.

That seems to be common with (American) horror movies as of late. I might wait until this hits Ballbusters. On a similar topic: Is anyone just the slightest bit stoked for a Dead Space adaption? You can read about it below.
So I just got Netflix, which I'm quite excited about as now I'm queuing up all those ridiculously hard to find independent and foreign releases that I've been wanting to see for a long while now.
*The Red Balloon & Au revior, les enfants (among many, many others)
I want to see Moon as well. Luckily for me there is an "arts" theatre close to where I live which tends more towards showing limited releases. Now it's just a matter of getting some friends together to go see it. Bindle?
*I'd be interested in Dead Space if it was made by Ridley Scott. *wink, wink*
Game to movie adaptions have always been less then stellar, I think we can all agree. However, EVERYONE you know plays games or watches movies, and in most cases it's both. If only movie studios and game devs could come together and bring just one to the big screen (without Uwe Boll, please), that would be great. Financially, it makes sense.
Maybe Hollywood is waking up.
I know it's early, and early speculation means crap. But what if someone said "Steven Spielberg" and "HALO" in the same sentence? Would that seem interesting? If so, then read here.
Once upon a time that would have intrigued me, but I find Halo overrated. I haven't seen a Steven Spielberg film in a while that really wowed me either. Unless of course I wasn't paying attention to the director/producer, which is very likely.

*I totally did this
Yep, thought it was pretty straight forward actually in the end. They tied things up nicely.
But then again I'm a big fan of Memento.
Also for any RPG people here if you haven't watched Gamers: The Dorkness Rising you need to hang your head in shame.

Long answer: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO...
Part of me really hoping Uwe Boll was directing it, so it could be a complete train wreck

Love the trailer! This sure is going to be bittersweet.

Please John Woo, take this out of development hell!
So I have to agree with Prime on this one. Chocolate is a fantastic kung-fu flick.
*I know people that would be incensed at calling Muay Thai "Kung Fu"
Also, i saw Funny People this past weekend. Meh, pretty good... maybe not worth a 10 dollar movie ticked but definitley a rental.
