Thanks for the reassurance  ...cause Mack's score makes it look like I'm running my old trident card or something. Remember vesa local bus and all that?

Dual cards, yes. No chance in hell a sigle card would do that on stock air and volts.

I went from playing Cod2 at 1600X1200 and full eyecandy to a X850 XT PE which usually is a pretty good card. It was like night and day. Can hardly play at 1024 resolution and full eyecandy with respectable fps in multiplayer. Things have gone so fast the last year in the videocard business. I tell you one thing..FEAR at 1600X1200 with 16/4 on the AA and AF is the way the game is supposed to be played. Absolutely gorgeous!

I did my first 3dMark05 test last night and got 7149. But after reading these posts I realized that I should have taken Norton off and some of my spyware killers before running it. Is this an alright score for my rig though, despite the anti-virus?

Very good score ...are you overclocking?
I quit Norton way back in the 80's cause it's such a resource hog. I use freeavg now.

I'm not going to overclock until I get a new PSU. The one that came with my case sucks, and frankly, I'm surprised that the system even runs on it. I'm likely going to quit Norton too, after my free 90 days are up. I'll probably get AVG or Freedom (it comes as an option with our high-speed).

Good luck getting norton off of your os. I had so many remnants I had to reinstall windows.

Did a new benchmark after using ntune to optimize graphics performance. got 7249, about 100 points better than what I'd gotten with stock settings. FPS were noticibly better in COD II demo (about 10fps more on avg, that is I was getting average of about 31-41fps, now I'm getting 41-55 fps).

:celebrate I just received my 7900GT's and have run a benchmark on a single card stock and OC'd with coolbits using the "Detect Optimal Frequencies" option.

Got 8385 on stock and 8882 on frequencies of 552/859

I am going to fiddle around with two of these babies in SLI over the next few days. Will post some scores then. :)
